MAKÜ LIFE and Aging Studies Community's Turkish Folk Music Concert Event with the Theme of Presidential 2025 FAMILY YEAR

Due to the declaration of 2025 as the Family Year by our Presidency, our University's Aging Studies Application and Research Center, in collaboration with the Aging Studies community and Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center affiliated with Burdur Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, organized a Turkish Folk Music concert themed 'Aging and Family'. 

In the opening of the concert, Burdur Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Mustafa Çakır thanked the Women Caravanners Turkish Folk Music community and the audience for their participation.

We Are One Big Family

Following Provincial Director Mustafa Çakır, our faculty member and MAKÜ LIFE Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz SAY ŞAHİN expressed that they are experiencing the joy of coming together at this beautiful event organized jointly with our external stakeholders today. Continuing her speech, she stated that while Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University is already a very large family with all its staff and students, they are now an even bigger family with external stakeholders like our Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services and especially with our pride, our elders, the residents of the nursing home in Burdur. ŞAHİN emphasized that as the Aging Studies and Application Center, they are a research center conducting field research alongside many events and activities in the fields of Geriatrics and Gerontology. She highlighted the importance of raising awareness about aging in Burdur province and building sustainable self-sufficient elderly communities. She stated that activities planned with external stakeholders, thematic panels, informational meetings, and artistic events for all the people of Burdur will continue without diminishing, and they will achieve even better work with the support they receive from the management of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, moving from the motto of our university From Universal Knowledge to Social Contribution. She also expressed her gratitude to all the nursing home staff, through Burdur Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home Director Mr. İbrahim Çetinkaya, for their courtesy, dedicated work, open-mindedness, and management approach that facilitates rather than complicates. Şahin concluded her speech by thanking the Women Caravanners Turkish Folk Music community under the direction of Conductor Yıldız CAN, who contributed to our Folk Music Concert event, which we planned as the first event of 2025, and came here without breaking us. 

The night, where nursing home residents, students, and other participants enjoyed by accompanying folk music songs, was completed with gifts given in honor of the entire community through Choir Conductor Yıldız CAN.
